Though the recipe I found for these calls them Cheetos, I would more accurately call them Cheesy Puffs. They don't necessarily taste like Cheetos brand, but they are very cheesy, puffy, crispy, and really good!
Recipe found HERE!
When you see the recipe...the part that describes them as white puffy clouds, you may be wondering what it's really supposed to look like. Well, it will look like this before you bake them.
Another tip...if you buy shredded cheese and freeze it like the recipe calls for, you won't need a food processor. Frozen shredded cheese is very easy to break into smaller pieces just with your fingers!
Happy Low Carbbing!
Those look so yummy!

ReplyDelete3 egg whites
1/8 tsp cream of tartar
1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese (frozen)(I froze the cheese before I went to bed)
popcorn cheese sprinkles
Preheat oven to 300 degrees.
Put the frozen cheese in a food processor, chop, until it's in tiny little pieces.
In a mixing bowl, blend the first two ingredients, at high speed, until whites form stiff peaks.
Sprinkle the chopped cheese, on top of the egg whites.
Then, with a rubber spatula, fold the cheese into the egg whites, VERY CAREFULLY, being careful not to disturb the fluffy whites, but thoroughly spread the cheese, throughout.
Carefully place the mixture into a large Ziplock baggie, cut a ½ inch hole in the corner of baggie. Gently squeeze onto cookie sheet in CHEETO-like shapes. I would suggest using a sheet of parchment baking paper, to line your pan, but if you don't...spray the pan, very well. Lightly sprinkle popcorn cheese, on top of each puff. (not too much or it will come out salty.
Bake at 300 degrees, for 30 minutes, the last ten minutes with the oven off.
Store in a tightly sealed, air-tight container.
