I am a big fan of chili, but I really like mine loaded with beans. Well, I used to anyway. I'll occasionally splurge on some black beans which are lower in carbs than a lot of legumes, but mostly I avoid beans altogether. Therefore, sometimes I miss chili the way "mama used to make it." I've only ever eat chili a few times a year but to ease those once in a while cravings, my quick and easy chili fix is Hormel's Turkey Chili with NO Beans and then I just add extra meat for a more substantial meal. You can go for an all beef hotdog, or a little "fancier" with smoked sausage like I added to mine (which is really just a bigger more flavorful hotdog in my opinion lol). But, it really works for those comfort food cravings or on a cold winter's night.
Keep in mind though that if you're currently really strict with your carb intake or you don't want to splurge too much, that this may be a little more carby than you want.
There are 13 Net Carbs (Total carbs - Fiber)
in 1 cup of Hormel's Turkey No Bean Chili
Compared to other store bought or canned chili, this is a REALLY great low carb alternative though! However, Iv'e seen plenty of recipes nowadays for low carb homemade chili...I just don't usually have the time for that. So for me, the turkey no bean chili is a great lower carb option!
Walmart (and possibly Winn Dixie) sells Eden Organic Black Soy Beans. 8 gr carbs minus 7 gr fiber = 1 gram net carb per 1/2 cup serving. I use this to make baked beans, chili, etc. About $2.25 per can. http://www.edenfoods.com/store/index.php/black-soybeans-organic-bpa-free-lined-can.html
